As part of the European Urban Studies discussion series organised by the Institute for European Urban Studies at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, Raffael Beier, together with Noa K. Ha (DeZIM), Giovanni Picker (University of Glasgow) and Sandra Hunning (Bauhaus-Universität Weimar), contributed to a workshop on ‘Critical Interventions on European Studies’ on 31 May.
The workshop, which took place on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Institute of European Urban Studies, focussed on a critical reflection of the concepts of the ‘European city’ and ‘European urbanism’. In view of contemporary developments and many critical viewpoints, this topic was examined from various perspectives. The focus was on feminist, post-colonial, racism-critical and post-socialist perspectives. The aim was to enable a critical examination of the ‘European city’ and to discuss possible reorientations of ‘European Urban Studies’.
