The article addresses the discrimination of people with a history of migration on the housing market, which is caused by various factors. These include the current housing shortage, certain urban planning models and discriminatory allocation practices. In addition, the limited significance of statistical categories for the diverse needs and experiences of people with a history of migration is criticised.

Abstract

The heterogeneous group of people with a history of migration is still disadvantaged on the housing market. In addition to the worsening housing shortage, urban planning models and established allocation practices on the housing market also contribute to the disadvantage of ‘migrants’. However, statistical categories only do limited justice to the diversity of resources, needs and experiences of access barriers.
