Abstract

This article shows how resettlement in the context of Morocco’s national housing programme "Cities Without Slums" changes the nature and dynamics of social conflicts around equal access to adequate housing. Introducing the concept of "authoritarian individualisation", it focuses on both practices of public actors to undermine conflict during resettlement as well as specific resettlement conditions that tear apart former communities and foster a decollectivization of social conflicts.
