Presentation of the ICOLMA research project at the DOKORP in Dortmund, Germany (2025)
The researchers presented key findings on the cascading effects identified through criticality assessments, shedding light on the vulnerabilities and interdependencies within critical infrastructure. The discussions also explored the impact of digitalization on the livelihoods of marginalized groups, highlighting some illustrative cases in different urban contexts.

Additionally, the researchers presented the diverse research methodologies applied in the study and how qualitative and quantitative approaches were integrated as well as the livelihood framework analysis. A focus was given to the comparative method employed to analyse and contrast the socio-economic and infrastructural conditions of the Ruhr Area, São Paulo, and Cape Town. This comparison gives a nuanced understanding of regional disparities and shared challenges across these cities.

The research will commence with further in-depth analysis to refine the findings and contribute to policy recommendations.
