Josephine Render
After my voluntary social year at Aktion Tagwerk, where I was able to gain experience in the organisation and implementation of development education work, I was drawn to the interdisciplinary degree programme at the Department of Spatial Planning. Besides dealing with land policies and management, I am also interested in planning cultures in other countries. As a student assistant, I support the team in teaching and research regarding diverse topics on planning and dynamics of urban development worldwide.
I am interested in climate adaptation, participatory planning, and dealing with migration and urbanisation processes in a variety of local contexts. I am particularly interested in the impact of these processes on social structures and disadvantaged populations.

During my bachelor's degree in spatial planning at TU Dortmund University, I developed a keen interest in political-economic relationships in the field of land and housing. I am particularly enthusiastic about critically analyzing existing planning practices and social relations and developing ideas for more socially just concepts. In addition to researching overarching, systematic relationships, I am particularly interested in their concrete effects on different population groups.
As a research assistant, I support the team in teaching and research with a view to a wide range of planning and urban development topics in an international context.
