Global Learning for Sustainable Development

“Global Learning for Sustainable Development” analysed the career pathways of international graduates from Africa, Asia and Latin America over a period of several years. It was a joint interdisciplinary project of TU Dortmund University and University of Applied Sciences Fulda, supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) with funds from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

It focused on life course analysis based on a mixed methods design combining multi-sited ethnography, grounded theory and qualitative content analysis with longitudinal quantitative analysis. The sample included DAAD alumni from the disciplines of economics and management, natural sciences, medicine as well as from engineering and social sciences. The project contributed to career research from a global and longitudinal perspective, taking into account the complexity of social inequalities (intersectionality).
